This is an e-mail I received from one of our long time team anglers. Larry
I will bring two $25.00 Bass Pro Shops gift certificates to the first bass tournament held on Lake Mead in December. This is a reward for the smallest bass weighted in at the tournament. Courtesy of, (Team Kurr Professional Bass fishing).
I know your asking yourself why I would want to do this. But you must first understand the true love I have for the sport and my unwavering desire to promote the sport in the Las Vegas area.
This to me is a true family sport that can be enjoyed by all if it is built up the right way.Yes the money is great but how about the trophies, dinners, Cook-outs, recognition and pride that go along with the sport as well. If we can get kids involved we will have some one to take us fishing when we're to old to go ourselves. If we can get the wives involved we will stay married longer and be able to spend more money on fishing stuff.
Our hardest mountain to climb will always be promoting. if we can get the word out to the 5% of 1,100 new families that move here every month who also have boats and fish and of them the 5% who own bass boats. That's 5 new guys a month we could be adding to our membership.
But the question is always going to be how?
I have a ton of ideas but no real place to go with them. I even have some ways of getting sponsors involved. But little time to put it all together and go out and get it done.
I think if your really serious Larry we could build something better then it was and get 100 boat turn-outs.
Let me know what you think
Dwayne D. Kurr This is the type of things we need to do. If any of you have ideas on how we can make the sport better for everyone please send me the info and I will post it to get more feedback. Thanks Dwayne!!!
Nevada Region Anglers Show Their Stuff at the Southern TOC at Lake Havasu The Nevada Region anglers showed the rest of the circuits what they were made of at the Southern TOC at Lake Havasu. The region sent 11 teams plus an additional six teams that qualified as Wondering teams.
The first day proved tough for most of the anglers. Our anglers did well with every team catching at least one fish the first day and six teams catching limits. Eight teams placed in the top 50 and three in the top 25.
On day two all of the anglers who fished had slightly better days. We had eight of our anglers finish in the top 50 and three in the top 25.
When all was said a done the team of Gerald Webster & David Zachgo caught the big fish of day two. Gerald Webster caught the big bass weighing 4.69 lbs earning him a check for $1250.00. Congratulations Gerald, good job.
Congratulations to JJ Gibbs and Ray Lillard who placed 4th with 23.58 lbs. Also to John and Tammy Morrow who finished 6th with 22.92 lbs.
